This project was set up by the Institute of Ecology and Botany, Centre of Ecological Research of the Hungarian Academy of Science in an open sand steppe at Kiskunság. The objective of the research is to investigate the effects of an extreme drought and recurring moderate changes in precipitation, which effects can be the substances of the global climate change. In a full factorial field experiment established in 2013, we combine two levels of extreme drought (extreme drought in the first year/ control) and four levels of recurring precipitation change (strong drought/moderate drought/control/irrigation). We use 48 pieces EDAPHOLOG probes, from which we get real time data from the falling insects, and monthly abundance data from the container attached to the probes.
